Mumbai, Aug. 26 -- The first tunnel boring machine (TBM) deployed for Phase 3(B) of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project has completed nine metres of excavation, marking a key milestone in the construction of the twin tunnels under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Wednesday.

Under Phase 3(B) of the GMLR project, twin three-lane tunnels are being constructed over a 5.30-km stretch between Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Film City) in Goregaon East and Amar Nagar in Mulund West.

The tunnels are being excavated using a tunnel boring machine named 'Tulsi', with the first TBM commissioned on August 17.
