Fitch retains India's 'BBB-' rating, sees resilient 6.4% growth despite energy supply constraints
New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- India's economic growth is expected to remain resilient despite near-term headwinds from the energy shock, with public capital expenditure, a recovery in private investment and favourable demographics supporting medium-term expansion, Fitch Ratings said as it affirmed India's sovereign rating at 'BBB-' with a Stable Outlook.
Fitch forecast India's GDP growth at 6.4 per cent in FY27, below the 7.4 per cent average recorded over the past three years but still around three times the 2 per cent median growth rate for the 'BBB' rating category. The ratings agency said it expects India's resilience to external shocks to continue, although uncertainty surrounding the US-Iran conflict poses residual risks given the country'...
