Nalgonda, May 17 -- A fire broke out at the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) in the Veerlapalem area of Damercherla mandal in Nalgonda district on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

According to the officials, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Upon receiving the information, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and successfully brought the flames under control.

The blaze reportedly erupted in one of the units of the plant, causing thick black smoke to billow from the site and triggering brief panic among workers. Preliminary assessment suggests that a short circuit led to the fire.
