New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has unearthed fake call centres mainly targeting people in the United States during a massive search operation conducted at four premises located in Punjab's Patiala, Maharashtra's Pune and Chandigarh.

Revealing the modus operandi of the call centres, the federal agency said details of potential victims were obtained from data suppliers and call-blast vendors who send bulk spam emails to victims, providing a toll-free number to resolve the issue, which is not present in real.
