New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary MA Baby was detained during a protest by Left parties against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar outside the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Delhi on Tuesday.

The protest was part of a wider campaign announced by five Left parties - the CPI(M), Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI(ML) Liberation, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and All India Forward Bloc - seeking the removal of the CEC and a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The parties had announced a week-long programme of protests from September 26 to October 2.
