Consumer Commission orders Punjab & Sindh Bank to pay Rs.59,600 over failed ATM transaction
New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission-VIII (Central), Delhi, has directed Punjab & Sindh Bank to refund Rs.10,000 to a customer after finding a deficiency in service over an ATM transaction in which the amount was debited from his account but cash was allegedly not dispensed.
The Commission has also directed the bank to pay Rs.29,600 as compensation for delayed reversal of the failed transaction, Rs.10,000 for mental agony, harassment and inconvenience, and Rs.10,000 towards litigation expenses. The amounts have to be paid within 45 days from receipt of the order, failing which the outstanding amount will carry interest at 9% per annum from the date of default till realisation.
