New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- The Congress Party Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha, Akhilesh Prasad Singh on Monday gave notice under Rule 267, concerning "free and fair elections".

In the letter to the Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha, Singh stated, "That this House suspend Zero Hour and the relevant rules pertaining to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the concerns around the conduct of free and fair elections."

The letter further read, "High levels of migration, displacement, and documentation-related vulnerabilities in certain states affect voting participation and require particular attention, as they raise grave apprehensions about the disenfranchisement of a large section of the poor and marginalised."
