BRICS share in global exports nearly doubles to 24%; Piyush Goyal calls for stronger intra-BRICS trade
New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- The share of BRICS countries in global merchandise exports has nearly doubled to about 24 per cent from around 12 per cent in 2003, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday, calling for stronger intra-BRICS trade, resilient supply chains and greater opportunities for businesses across the grouping.
Addressing the Leaders Session of the BRICS Business Forum 2026, Goyal said merchandise exports from BRICS countries to the rest of the world increased from about USD 900 billion in 2003 to nearly USD 6 trillion in 2024.
