Sao Paulo, Aug. 18 -- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is seeking a conversation with US President Donald Trump to discuss issues concerning the United Nations Security Council, amid growing political and trade tensions between Brasilia and Washington, Brasil 247 reported, citing a senior source at the presidential palace.

The move follows Lula's recent discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Lula has also said he wants to speak with Trump to prevent possible US interference in Brazil's upcoming presidential elections.
