New Delhi, June 18 -- The West Bengal government has moved the Supreme Court against a Delhi High Court order directing the premature release of Mohammed Rashid Khan, who was convicted in the 1993 Bowbazar bomb blasts in Kolkata that claimed 69 lives.

A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice V Mohana said it will look into the request, after the counsel for the State mentioned the matter for urgent listing.

Counsel said the issue involves a "very serious offence" and urged the bench to list the matter for hearing on June 22.
