Bengaluru, July 14 -- The Bengaluru Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified individual for allegedly creating a fake social media profile of a senior IPS officer and soliciting money from the public under the guise of funding "public work," officials said on Tuesday.

The complaint was lodged by M Narayana, who is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Electronic City Division. According to the FIR registered at the Hebbagodi Police Station, the fraudster created a spoofed Facebook profile using the DCP's name and images to target residents across Bengaluru.
