Dhaka, Sept. 15 -- Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced seven senior Awami League leaders, including party General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to death for crimes against humanity linked to the student-led uprising in 2024.

The Tribunal-2 court, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, delivered the verdict on Tuesday.

The other leaders sentenced to death are Awami League Joint General Secretary Bahauddin Nasim; former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat; Jubo League President Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and its General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil; and Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan.
