Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- A total of 12 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order, ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth functioning of industrial operations amid labour unrest in Gazipur, Narayanganj and adjoining industrial areas, the BGB said in a statement on Tuesday.

The deployed personnel are carrying out their duties in coordination with the local administration and other law enforcement agencies, the statement added.

Currently, 10 platoons of BGB personnel have been deployed in the Sofipur, Kaliakair and Konabari areas of Gazipur, while two platoons are stationed in the Chasara area of Narayanganj. The overall situation in other adjoining areas, including Ashulia and Mirpur,...
