Guwahati, Sept. 11 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the state government is working towards the smooth, transparent and timely implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) for its government employees.

Sarma said Assam was among the first states to approve the UPS and that the process of framing and notifying the rules is still underway across states.
