Guwahati, Sept. 26 -- Deepjyoti Thakuria, father of Gauhati University student Nimisha Thakuria, who was found dead at a homestay near Azara, demanded exemplary punishment for the accused on Saturday.

"I want justice. I demand that the government take stern action against the culprit. What my child faced, the culprit should face a similar situation," he said.

Nimisha Thakuria was found unconscious at a homestay near Azara, on the outskirts of Guwahati and later declared brought dead at a hospital, police said.

Following that, a postmortem examination was conducted at Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH).
