Sivasagar, April 1 -- Ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday lambasted the Assam government, accusing it of corruption and alleging that administration in the state operates under "mafia and syndicate rule."

She added that the people of Assam were tired and wanted the state to rise. She said that the public wants a "new government that would only work towards serving people."
