Kolkata, Dec. 29 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Monday as part of a three-day visit aimed at strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party's organisational base in West Bengal ahead of the crucial Assembly elections scheduled for next year.
Shah was received at the airport by West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar and several senior party leaders and workers.
Supporters gathered to welcome the Union Home Minister as he began his visit to the state capital.
Upon his arrival at the BJP office in Kolkata, Shah received a warm welcome and will also review strategies and preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls.
