Vijayawada, Aug. 29 -- Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Chigurupati Babu Rao on Saturday slammed the recent hike in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices, pointing out that recurring fuel price surges are crushing household budgets and driving up inflation.

Speaking to ANI, Chigurupati Babu Rao criticised the government for failing to cushion citizens against escalating fuel costs despite falling global rates.

He said, "The CNG price has once again been raised by Rs 3.89 per kg. This is not an isolated incident; within the span of seven or eight months, this is the third or fourth increase.
