New Delhi, May 23 -- Congress MP Tariq Anwar on Saturday said that the Muslim community has appealed against the sacrifice of cows during Bakri Eid.

He even demanded that the cow be declared the national animal, while questioning why a complete ban has not been imposed despite strong sentiments linked to the animal.

Speaking to ANI, Anwar said, "... The Muslim community have already said and appealed that this time there should be no sacrifice of cows. They have even urged the government to declare the cow as the national animal. Why has a complete ban not been imposed, and why has the cow not been declared the national animal?"
