Kolkata, March 20 -- Amid ongoing uncertainty over LPG supplies in India due to tensions in West Asia, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday criticised the Central government, alleging that it plans to raise fuel prices and is "selling the country."
Speaking to reporters, she contrasted current LPG prices with those during the tenure of PM Manmohan Singh, recalling that gas cylinders once cost around Rs 400 but have now risen to about Rs 1100. She expressed concern that further price hikes may be on the way.
"They (Central govt) are going to increase the prices. They have just sold the country... I remember Manmohan Singh's government when the price of gas was Rs 400, now it has increased to Rs 1100," said Mamata Banerjee...
