Ankara, July 8 -- US President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed optimism over a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying he believes the two leaders could reach an agreement to end the ongoing conflict in Europe.

Trump made the remarks during his meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, saying that a potential deal had been under discussion for a long time and that both sides understood the issues involved.
