Golaghat, July 23 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited several flood-affected areas of Golaghat district to assess the extent of damage and review ongoing rescue and relief operations, the CMO stated.

He also visited several relief camps in the district, interacted with flood-affected people taking shelter there and reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken.

The Chief Minister visited the relief camp set up at Bhaskar Senior Basic School in Kamarbandha, where 178 flood-affected people are currently taking shelter.

He interacted with the inmates to understand their problems, daily requirements and the challenges they are facing.
