New Delhi, Jan. 5 -- Special Public Prosecutor Rajat Nair on Monday said that the Supreme Court has refused bail to Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam in the Delhi riots case, terming them as the "main conspirators" and rejecting the argument that prolonged detention should secure their release.

The Special Public Prosecutor asserted that if the gravity of the offences was of such magnitude that it "did not justify the grant of bail."

Speaking to ANI, Nair said, "The Supreme Court, after examining the entire evidence that was available against them, has held that these were the main conspirators.
