Haridwar, July 27 -- A devastating stampede occurred in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, resulting in six deaths and multiple injuries.

According to Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, a rumour that an electric wire had broken sparked panic among the crowd. An investigation is underway to identify the person responsible for spreading the false rumour, and a magisterial inquiry will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
