Guwahati, Sept. 2 -- Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said that India "aimed to become a leading maritime country" after announcing details of the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025.

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) hosted a regional roadshow in Guwahati today as a precursor to India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, which is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from October 27 to 31.

The minister confirmed that several maritime ministers from across the world would attend the event, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sonowal stated that the Prime Minister's participation would add strength and global recognition to the initiative.
