Bengaluru, Nov. 7 -- Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday accused the Central government of misleading people over ethanol blending in petrol, alleging that reports from laboratories accredited by the government showed blending levels exceeding the limits announced by the Centre.

He also alleged that the exercise was being carried out to benefit companies linked to the family members of Union ministers.

Kharge said that the government had earlier assured people that ethanol blending would not exceed a specified limit, but reports from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)-accredited laboratories had indicated otherwise.
