Kochi, March 8 -- Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala are expected to set a benchmark for democratic practices, expressing confidence in the preparedness of the state's election machinery and cooperation from political parties.

Speaking to ANI here after reviewing preparations for the forthcoming polls, Kumar said Kerala holds a special place for him as it had been his "karma bhoomi" more than two decades ago.
