Panaji, Nov. 4 -- Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday expressed pride in hosting the ongoing FIDE World Cup 2025 and welcomed all the players from different countries competing in the tournament.

The FIDE World Cup 2025 is a single-elimination knockout tournament featuring 206 players from 82 countries competing for the coveted Viswanathan Anand Cup, named after the Indian legend.

"It is a matter of great pride for me that Goa is hosting this match. 17 Indian players are playing in this World tournament. 206 players from 82 countries have come here. I welcome them. This tournament will continue till 27 November," Pramod Sawant said to the reporters.
