"India must be on alert": Former Tibetan Sikyong Sangay warns of Chinese interference in Dalai Lama's succession
New Delhi, May 27 -- Former Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration, Lobsang Sangay, on Wednesday warned India to be on alert for Chinese interference in the Dalai Lama's succession.
Speaking to ANI, he highlighted that though the succession of the Dalai Lama is not complicated, as it will be facilitated by the Ganden Phodrang and recognised by Dalai Lamas for centuries, he was wary of Beijing's intervention in the matter.
This comes after the 14th Dalai Lama, in his book Voice for the Voiceless, announced that the next Lama will be born in a free world outside of China.
