Haridwar, July 27 -- A huge crowd possibly triggered the stampede at the Mansa Devi temple on Sunday in Uttarakhand's Haridwar, leading to the deaths of at least six people, according to eyewitnesses.
A devotee from Bihar who suffered a fracture in his hand in the rush said, "Suddenly, a huge crowd gathered there and a stampede took place. During this, all the people fell and got hurt."
Ten people who were injured in the incident have been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh, where they are undergoing treatment.
Uttarakhand CM has taken cognisance of the matter and ordered a magisterial inquiry in the incident.
