New Delhi, Sept. 19 -- Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance chairman and BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab on Saturday defended the committee's report on the Demands for Grants amid a controversy over recommendations related to Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), saying the report was adopted unanimously after following due procedure.

Responding to Congress MP Manish Tewari's objection to reports attributing to him that "certain members" of the Opposition supported the proposal on MDR, Mahtab said the committee follows a structured process of discussion, preparation and adoption of reports.
