New Delhi, May 21 -- Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Congress was no longer the party it was during the independence movement and had become a "Maoist, Muslim Congress."

Speaking to ANI here ahead of the Council of Ministers meeting chaired by PM Modi, Singh dismissed suggestions that the high-level gathering had been convened in response to Rahul Gandhi's remarks.

"This meeting is already decided. It is not that the Prime Minister will call a meeting on Rahul Gandhi's statement, the Council of Ministers keep meeting," he said.
