Sonitpur, March 30 -- Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, BJP candidate from Dhekiajuli and state minister Ashok Singhal on Monday asserted that the Congress party has been "decimated" across the state.

He expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will secure a massive mandate.

The state is set to go to the polls in a single phase across all 126 Assembly constituencies on April 9, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.

Speaking to ANI, Singhal said that Dhekiajuli has remained a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party over the past decade, with the party's vote share consistently rising in successive elections.
