Shimla, May 21 -- Former Congress MP Pratibha Singh expressed gratitude to the people of Himachal Pradesh for the Congress party's strong performance in the recent urban local body elections, stressing that the results reflect growing public support for the party in the state.

In her statement, Singh asserted that Congress contests elections on the plank of development, while the BJP attempts to secure votes by "playing with people's emotions".

She further stated that Congress believes in taking everyone along, whereas the BJP indulges in politics based on regionalism and religion.

"The results of the municipal body elections have made it clear that public opinion in the state is in favour of the Congress," said Singh.
