New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- Indian women's boxing coach Santiago Nieva has already started looking beyond the 2026 Asian Games, where women boxers contributed to three medals, including two gold; the focus is now shifting towards securing as many Olympic quotas as possible at the earliest, for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

The first major Olympic qualification pathway begins at the World Championships 2027 in Kazakhstan. Lovlina Borgohain (women's 75 kg), Parveen Hooda (women's 65 kg), and Ankush Panghal (men's 80 kg) contributed gold medals for India, while Priya Ghanghas (women's 60 kg bronze) is the third and last women's medalist from the continental showpiece, producing India's best-ever showing in terms of gold medals.
