Chandigarh, Aug. 26 -- Amid speculation over a possible alliance between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the assembly polls next year, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Wednesday said the BJP is "not in Punjab's interest" and alleged that the Centre had failed to address several key issues concerning the state.

Aujla said the people of Punjab were aware of the BJP's approach towards the state and alleged that the Centre had not seriously addressed issues such as floods, border security, education and funding. "The BJP is not in Punjab's interest -- the whole of Punjab knows this," he said.
