New Delhi, Dec. 9 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back at the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for questioning the committee that selects the Chief Election Commissioner, claiming that earlier the Prime Ministers had chosen the ECs directly under the UPA regime.
Addressing the discussion on electoral reforms in the Lower House, Rahul Gandhi alleged that he has no voice in the committee comprising the Prime Minister, a Union Minister and the Lok Sabha LoP. He asked why the Centre was "keen on choosing exactly who the election commissioner is going to be?"
In response, the BJP, in an X post, alleged that Rahul Gandhi of doing "drama" instead of assisting the selection committee.
