Indonesia, Dec. 18 -- The construction of temporary housing for disaster-affected residents has become a priority in West Sumatra as part of efforts to accelerate post-disaster recovery, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said on Thursday.

"Temporary housing is now the main focus in West Sumatra," Hadi said in Padang, the provincial capital, while accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on a visit.

Temporary housing construction is underway in Palembayan, Agam district, one of the areas hardest hit by floods and landslides.

Footage shared by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) showed heavy equipment leveling land at the designated site on Wednesday, with building materials already delivered.
