Jakarta, May 12 -- Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected progress on Phase 2A construction of the mass rapid transit (MRT) line to ensure the service can operate on the Bundaran HI-Monas route by the end of 2027.

Wearing a safety vest and helmet, Gibran passed through an MRT tunnel under development alongside Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, and PT MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat.

"This is a collaborative project involving the central and regional governments. As Mr. President Director has said, construction has progressed to 59 percent overall," he remarked in the tunnel, which will extend the MRT corridor from Harmoni to Sawah Besar in Jakarta on Tuesday.
