Indonesia, April 22 -- Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka took 100 Papuan mothers shopping in Sorong, Southwest Papua, on Tuesday, giving each a Rp500,000 (US$28) voucher to mark Kartini Day and support women's household needs.

After traveling from Yahukimo, Gibran continued his working visit in Sorong, where he was warmly welcomed by local women, widely known as "Mama," who play a central role in Papua's grassroots economy.

"This really helps us. I can buy the children's needs like diapers, sugar and eggs. Thank you, Vice President Gibran," said Joice Merauga, 46, one of the recipients.
