Jakarta, Aug. 10 -- The Indonesian government reaffirmed its commitment to improving the livelihood of Indonesian veterans as the country commemorated National Veterans' Day on Monday.

"The Defense Ministry, the Defense Minister, and others will strive to improve it continually," Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema, Chief of the National Reserve Agency, said after a visit to Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta.

He said that the government is determined to provide all the needs of the veterans through the Veterans' Legion of Indonesia (LVRI), which is led by General (Ret.) Mantiri.

As LVRI continues its contribution to Indonesia, the Defense Ministry stands ready to synchronize its operations and agenda with the veterans' association.
