Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Indonesia's Higher Education, Science, and Technology Ministry has urged universities to strengthen their role as centers of knowledge creation, dissemination and human-resource development in the artificial intelligence era.

Deputy Minister Stella Christie said Friday that advances in AI were fundamentally changing many aspects of life, including higher education.

"AI's ability to acquire, process and present information quickly is prompting universities to review their core role in developing people and advancing knowledge," Christie said.

She said the challenge for universities was no longer simply how to convey information and facts to students.
