Denpasar, Bali, April 23 -- A joint search and rescue (SAR) team rescued two foreign nationals trapped on cliffs in Uluwatu, Bali, on Thursday using a helicopter.

The operation involved personnel from Denpasar Police, the Bali National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and a helicopter team from SGI Benoa.

The victims were identified as DZ (21), a Russian woman, and SS (52), an American man.

Denpasar Police spokesperson I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. local time in Pecatu Village, Badung Regency.

"The initial report came from El Kabron Bali Beach Club, which received a call from an unidentified person claiming to be trapped on the cliff," he said.
