Jakarta, Aug. 30 -- Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian has called on regional governments to strengthen collaboration to help disaster-affected regions.

He said that Indonesia's geographical condition makes it inherently prone to natural disasters across its regions, given its high concentration of active volcanoes, vast marine territories, and extensive river systems.

"Disasters can strike anywhere at any time. This is why we need collaboration," Tito said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Sunday.

He made the remarks after attending the 2026 Batch II Java-Bali High-Performing Regional Government Awards in Badung District, Bali, on Friday (August 28).
