Jakarta, Feb. 13 -- Grief engulfed the funeral of Smart Air co-pilot Capt. Baskoro Adi Anggoro, who was shot dead by an armed criminal group after landing at Korowai Airstrip in Papua, as mourners gathered in East Jakarta.

Family members, relatives and colleagues broke down in tears as Anggoro was buried at Pondok Kelapa public cemetery in Duren Sawit at 3:26 p.m. local time on Friday.

Sobs grew louder when the coffin was carried from the family home to the cemetery, marking the start of the final farewell under a heavy, subdued atmosphere.

The ceremony began with a brief church service, where mourners were invited to strengthen their faith and entrust Anggoro's passing to God.
