Tangerang, Banten, Feb. 10 -- The Tangerang City Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has appealed to the public to avoid direct contact with the Cisadane River following pollution suspected to have been caused by a chemical warehouse fire.
The head of the Tangerang City BPBD, Mahdiar, said in Tangerang on Tuesday that residents should increase vigilance and limit activities involving river water until official information on pollution levels is released.
"We urge the public to temporarily avoid direct contact with the Cisadane River. Residents are also advised to monitor official updates from the BPBD, the Regional Water Company (PDAM), and the Environmental Agency regarding environmental conditions," he said.
