Surabaya, East Java, Sept. 1 -- The East Java Regional Police confirmed that the situation in Surabaya and other regions in the province remain relatively safe and under control following recent protests that had escalated into unrest.
"The situation in Surabaya and East Java is relatively controlled and conducive," head of public relations at the East Java Police, Senior Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast, said here on Monday.
Abast stated that since Sunday evening (August 31), the National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian Military (TNI) have conducted large-scale joint patrols to maintain public security and order.
