Manokwari, W Papua, Aug. 23 -- Chair of Committee III of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Filep Wamafma, emphasized that the special autonomy policy obliges regional governments and companies to prioritize Indigenous Papuan workers in local recruitments.

Based on Law Number 2 of 2021, which is translated into a regional regulation, Indigenous Papuans must make up 80 percent of the total workforce.

"The affirmative policy on Indigenous Papuan workers is outlined in the West Papua Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2022," he said here on Saturday.

He expressed hope that regional governments and companies can collaborate in preparing an Indigenous Papuan workforce that is competent and can compete at all levels.
