Jakarta, Aug. 12 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) announced that forest and land fires, particularly in six priority provinces, had been successfully brought under control by early August amid the peak of the dry season.
The six priority provinces for forest and land fire mitigation are Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.
"The success was achieved through integrated efforts combining weather modification technology, the deployment of aircraft for patrols and aerial water spraying, and the work of ground task forces," BNPB Head Suharyanto remarked on Tuesday.
