Medan, Dec. 5 -- Joint search and rescue (SAR) teams continue to maximize their search efforts in areas affected by floods and landslides in Sibolga and Tapanuli Tengah District, North Sumatra.

Search operations resumed on Friday with expanded sweeps across the disaster zone.

Head of the Nias SAR Office, Putu Arga Sudjarwadi, said the search was supported by aerial monitoring using drones and additional personnel deployed to several sectors with a potential to locate victims.

He also urged residents to remain alert to extreme weather and immediately report any signs of additional victims.
